The Windy City AKA The Most Overcrowded Place on Earth

So this past Friday I ventured up to Chicago to see Toula. I learned a few things while there. Shocking, I know.

I rode a train for the first time. I learned trains are never on time. Once I boarded I learned there are no rules on trains. It resumed moving before I had even found a seat. I learned people can't stop moving while on the train. I learned the doors between the cars are squeaky and after two hours will make me swear to Lucifer. I learned they have last call on a train. And last call comes at Joliet, a mere thirty minutes after I boarded. The train guy was still looking for my ticket so I never even got a drink. I learned that ten minutes before your stop they make everyone get up and line up near the door. I learned that if the overweight man sitting next to me had one more apneic episode... well something more about swearing to Lucifer.

After arriving and eating anything and everything I could in Toula's roommate's car because I was so hungry, we went to eat at a really good Mexican restaurant. I learned that mango margaritas are delicious. Ok I didn't learn that, but it was reaffirmed. I learned that having to drive around the block more than once to have to find a parking spot which was just making the food take longer makes me furious. Again, just reaffirmed. I was really hungry ok? After dinner I learned that two of aforementioned mango margaritas and an hour for food to digest makes me fall asleep very early on Friday night.

Saturday we woke up and went to breakfast and then got pedicures, had lunch, and then I headed home. I learned that to save five dollars Toula will book our appointments at a nail place that takes forty-five minutes to get to instead of going to the place we could've walked to down the street. (she's angry with me right now for saying that. Hey Toula, of course there was a Cubs game :)). I learned that it is better if I stare at the floor while in a car in Chicago because the amount of people and cars gives me anxiety. I learned that Andersonville is, umm, "diverse." We went to a place called Hamburger Mary's for lunch (which by the way I kept calling Harry Mary's for some reason) and it was very good. However, Toula decided to wait until after we were sitting down with food ordered to tell me the story of Hamburger Mary's. It was opened by a drag queen who wanted a place where everyone could come and be themselves. Umm. There was this one girl who I had to ask Toula if it was a girl or a drag queen. I seriously couldn't tell. Our bill came in a high heeled red shoe. It was weird. There was a man wearing more makeup than I have ever worn in my life. Combined. I mean, I'm not backwoods or anything but I am from a farm. And Hamburger Mary's was all "Heeey, I'm culture shock, how you been girl?"

Man it was a good pedicure.

I love the train -- how did I know you would hate it?!?! It must be in the genes.

You can get a great pedicure uptown. No need to ride a train.

This post is getting boring. Hasn't anything funny happened to you since then?!?!?

MC, there was plenty of talk about Munchkin's lack of blog posts at the luncheon on Saturday. Her attempts at excuses were pathetic and not well received by anyone in attendance.
