A Night With Reuben

Friday night was birthday party night at Eight is Enough. Reuben had been sick earlier that week and since he was running a fever on Thursday Tom and Joan Bradford thought they might not be able to have the party. I offered to keep Reuben at my house so the others could celebrate their birthdays.

When AL says that Reuben is a screen kid, she is not lying. We immediately had to go upstairs to find the Wii and play Mario Kart. When he got tired of Mario Kart (by the way he spends more time changing his character than actually racing) we had to play Wii Resort. He beat the computer at sword fighting and then beat me at table tennis. Legitimately. He's not even three.

Then he wanted to play on PBS Kids.com. After that he snuggled on the couch with me and watched cartoons for over two hours. Then it was back to Mario Kart. I figured I should let the kid do what he wants since he's sick and missing his own birthday party (although he didn't know it). So after five hours of various video/computer games and cartoons we got in the car to go back to his house and he asked if he could play Mario Kart when he got home. Seriously, it's not that good of a game.

Maybe Reuben should change his name to Mario or Wii-man . . .

The Mrs. said...

Reuben and his mischievous grin makes me smile. From here on out I'm going to make sure I treat him kindly since he's destined to become the next Bill Gates. Aunt Mrs. needs to make sure someone is around to take care of her in her old age.
