Question?

As all of you know I just finished reading "The Lost Symbol." Last night I started "The DaVinci Code." Four chapters in, it sounds the exact same as the previous; a secret brotherhood, a secret code that will answer all of man's questions, etc, etc. Is it worth reading or a sort of say poo, different day sort of thing?

If so, what should I read next?

I loved the book, though I did have to call The Commish, like 3 times to answer my questions.
It also came in very handy to have read the book, when Coach and I watched the movie. He needed/wanted a full behind the scenes description of everything that happened.
I am starting the next one, this Spring.

For some reason I could not get past the cover. Yes, I do judge a book by the cover. Where in the world should you go to find good books to read? If only someone had a reading blog. Wait, I do. Here you go Munchkin: http://thepageturnersociety.blogspot.com/

The Lost Symbol is about Masonic theories and lore. The DiVinci Code is about The Holy Grail (kinda). Both are thrillers staring Robert Langdon. I liked them both, as well as Angels and Demons. Of course you are doing this backwards btw.

Currently reading.... The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible. Humerous but really very interesting. Check it out. Oh and I also think Chelsea, Chelsea Bang Bang is out, if you really want to get as far away from the 'thinkin' books as possible. I'm going to borders today.

If you plan to see the movie then yes, you should totally read DaVinci Code. You must read Angels & Demons because the book is much better than the movie. Yes, all three books are very similar, but they're relatively easy reads and a good introduction to your future life as a reader for pleasure. We will convert you. It's going to happen.

My suggestions for you:

1. Edgar Sawtelle (a book with dogs as a major character!)

2. The Hour I First Believed

3. Any of the Jack Daniels series by J.A. Konrath (humorous, light reading, set in Chicago & surrounding suburbs)

4. Any of the John Grisham novels.

If you get really stuck, go to Amazon and put in a book you enjoyed previously. They'll give you some suggested readings from that.

Yes, read Da Vinci, even though it is similar. But it is better than the Lost Symbol. And Angels and Demons is the best of the three, in my opinion. He also wrote two others that are also good - Digital Fortress and I can't think of the other one right now.

I just finished The Help by Kathryn Stockton for my book club. (Yes, I realize that makes me really sound nerdy) Anyway, it was phenomenal!! I've also read the Jack Daniels series and found them ok. Try Janet Evanovich, too. Those are fun and easy reads!

I just blogged about Janet Evanovich books. They are great. I have The Help in my stack of books to read. Not for my book club. Just for fun. Munchkin's family, please adopt me. Signed: Tru Stories Mom
