It only took 4 & 3/4 years of college, but I believe it is finally starting to happen. I'm sick of over processed, under nutritious, pop-me-in-the-microwave for five minutes and I'm done food. I actually voluntarily went to a grocery store at 5:30 pm tonight to get healthier, more fulfilling, less make-me-feel-like-a-bear-that-got-shot-in-the-ass-with-a-tranquilizer-dart food. I purchased (all fresh mind you):
Apples
Pears
Tomatoes
Romaine Lettuce
Potatoes
Yogurt
Cheese
Ok so yogurt and cheese aren't produce but are good sources of calcium and vitamin D. I'm also oddly excited about the chicken salad I'm about to have for supper, and that I have healthy cereal to eat for breakfast (not that I eat unhealthy cereal, its just usually coffee and cheeeeeeesey eggs... does anyone else to this day not eat sugar cereals because we were deprived of them as children? That one really stuck with me).
Is this normal?

Not only are those foods better for you, they're also cheaper in the long run. The only thing you forgot is the pineapple! All the experts will tell you to shop the perimeter of the grocery store - it's where all the good stuff lives.
The only sugary cereal your brother induldges in is Lucky Charms. All others are deemed from the devil, so yes I'd say it's a rule that's stuck with you. I, on the other hand, grew up on Coco Pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Frosted Flakes. We didn't have that rule in our house.
i do enjoy fresh pineapple, but produce sucks in des moines (another perk of living in FL, good produce)
I know about the cheaper thing too, I bought a head of romaine lettuce for like $1.70 and it will make like four meal size salads for me... but i do have to say...
I'M STILL HUNGRY!! (good thing i have the remainder of a fudge marble cake to tide me over while i adjust to my healthier diet)
It stuck, and my kids will have the same problem. No sugar cereals for me . . .usually bran flakes or oatmeal . . .
Once in awhile a box ends up in the house, b/c Sarge grew up on the other side of the cereal aisle!
Well I guess u weren't joking. I would have killed foe chicken salad tonight!
