First and foremost... is that a word?
Second, unfortunately it is rapidly reaching that time of year again. I turned on the heat when I got back this week because it had dropped below sixty degrees. Now the heat is on (who started singing), but I'm only allowed to keep it at 64 degrees. That, among other things like the fact that my room is a screened in porch, our apartment is make of pegboard, the windows don't seal properly, and I am refusing to pay a $200 gas/electric bill every month this winter (yes, that was our average bill last year during the winter months, and yes I'm already planning when I'm going to go postal on MidAmerican which is Iowa's ComEd)... I will be attempting to better prepare our little haven for winter this year.
I'm pretty sure I'm just going to go to Menard's or Home Depot, see when they have and come home and get out the blow dryers, but I was wondering... Does anybody have any suggestions?

Would a space heater help at all, or just help to run up the already high bill?
we have these oil radiators our landlord got us to help b/c our apartment is not adequately insulated but all they did was drive up the electric half of our bill... unfortunately
