What Will I Wear?

I have a wedding on November 1 and the last time I was at a November wedding I was wearing a black and white plaid number with giant velvet buttons and a square doily-like collar. Oh and don't forget those flats. Garbage Disposal and I went shopping tonight to look for dresses. She found one, a $160 dress that she got for $60 at White House Black Market. I didn't even look in that store because I figured I can't afford anything in there. In retrospect I'm not going to get a dress that's nice enough to wear to a wedding and that I could possibly wear again for what I can afford. Thoughts? Advice?

Options (in no particular order):
1)Borrow something.
2)Shop at an upscale 2nd hand store.
3)Buy something at a regular store and consider it an investment in your wardrobe.

Do you have a Von Maur near you? I have had luck on several occassions finding party dresses at drastic savings there. JCPenney's also has a decent selection for slightly less $$$. I also have a couple of dresses that you are more than welcome to try if you'd like.

My thought is be on the lookout for the simple black dress - even if it seems like you're spending a lot on it, depending on the style you'll wear it more than you think. You are coming into that time in your life when everyone and their mother will be inviting you to weddings. Welcome to your mid-twenties!

Yah I was thinking it was time to bite the bullet as well b/c I am aware that I've hit that age....as much as I hate to admit it

One in June, I had one in September that I didn't attend b/c of school, another in October that I can't make and another in November... sweet

When are you coming home? We can do a shopping trip to find you a new dress!!!!

Or I was also thinking you could just borrow the dress Mrs. MC wore to the '85 prom. It's velvet - you can't get fancier than that!
